Jean-Paul Julia’s first visits to our Asian subsidiaries

Jean-Paul Julia has visited Cambodia, Thailand and Laos to meet the teams of our subsidiaries.

Following on from his field visits in France, Jean-Paul Julia travelled to Asia to meet the teams at BRED Bank Cambodia, BRED IT and Banque Franco-Lao.

This visit to Asia highlighted the growth opportunities and challenges facing our subsidiaries BRED Bank Cambodia, BFL and BRED IT. Above all, it was an opportunity to strengthen ties with the teams, officials and local clients in order to better understand their needs and challenges.

BRED Bank Cambodia

In Cambodia, BRED Bank Cambodia Ltd (BBC) has great ambitions for the future. It has stepped up the commercial development of the inter-bank QR Code and, more generally, has made a major commercial effort to develop the collection of funds, which means that it now has surplus resources that it can invest with its parent company, BRED.

With 15 branches and 79 ATMs by the end of December 2023, BBC will continue to strengthen its presence in the country, offering a full range of products and services to a diversified customer base.

BRED IT

Jean-Paul Julia then travelled to Thailand, where he visited BRED IT, a strategic subsidiary responsible for managing the IT infrastructure of all BRED’s banking subsidiaries, from Africa to the South Pacific.

BRED IT has a dual mission:

  • Serve as an IT hub for all subsidiaries in South-East Asia, the Pacific Ocean and the Horn of Africa, ensuring the highest standards for their information systems.
  • Serve as an extension of French IT teams for the French perimeter as well, by contributing to the success of BRED SA projects such as the overhaul of the international transfer application, carried out in close collaboration with the front, middle and back-office teams in France.

BRED IT ensures that banking operations remain efficient and secure, while the focus has been placed on the innovation and agility required to meet the evolving needs of customers and employees.

BFL

The tour of Asia ended in Laos, where Jean-Paul Julia met the team from Banque Franco Lao (BFL), the French Ambassador to Laos, H.E. Mrs Siv-Leng Chhuor, and BFL’s major customers.

Despite Laos’ economic challenges, BFL has maintained a solid strategy and steady growth, covering all customer segments and offering a full range of banking products and services. It is actively involved in the modernisation of payment methods in Laos, having joined the interconnected QR code instant payment network in 2023.
