BRED Bank Fiji recently engaged in an environmental stewardship initiative, planting over 500 Mangrove propagules in the Nasese Foreshore of Suva. The initiative, led by CEO Thierry Charras-Gillot and EXCO members, reflects the bank’s strong commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility.
More than 30 staff from the BRED Bank Fiji Head Office joining forces to offload the Mangrove seedlings from the trucks, further emphasizing the importance of teamwork in achieving environmental goals. It was a significative display of unity and shared values among the bank’s team members.
Planting of mangroves is included in Fiji’s 30 million trees in 15 years Tree-planting programme that is coordinated by the ministry of forestry.
This action underlined the significance of mangrove forests as vital tools in the fight against climate change. Mangroves play a pivotal role in carbon sequestration and safeguarding coastal areas from the impacts of rising sea levels, making their preservation of utmost importance.
CEO Thierry Charras-Gillot expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to collaborate with the Ministry of Forestry on this project, emphasizing the bank’s privilege in giving back to nature.
“We need to work together so we can protect, conserve, restore and grow our mangrove forests. We hope our efforts will help raise awareness on the importance of mangroves which contributes to the wellbeing of the community and country as a whole.”
By placing corporate social responsibility at the heart of our strategy, we reaffirm our commitment to being a responsible Bank.
