Since the rollout of BRED EFTPOS in November 2021, BRED Bank Solomon has issued 11 EFTPOS machines to 11 shops in and around Honiara.
This is a result of the collaborative effort between the Electronic Banking System team who are in charge of the EFTPOS, and the Business Banking and Retail teams who work directly with customers.
The Merchants vary from cafes to health care providers and a tourist destination outside of Honiara. In the city of Honiara itself, BRED EFTPOS are strategically placed from King George in east Honiara to Point Cruz in west Honiara.
Statistics have shown an increase in EFTPOS transactions both from BRED cards and VISA and Mastercards.
However, connectivity is a challenge. Some shops have limited phone reception within the shop therefore cannot process EFTPOS transactions at times.
To address this challenge, BRED Bank Solomon is investing in cordless EFTPOS machines which can be moved to areas that have better reception within the shop.Â
