BRED Bank team visited the Rarama Arts festival exhibition at the USP Oceania Centre yesterday. As the many sponsors of the festival, the team were proud and eager to visit the exhibition. This is the first time the Bank has sponsored such an event and we particularly choose to support Fijian Art and Culture for our 10th Anniversary because this area is often neglected by corporates. “Rarama arts festival is very symbolic and infused with a lot of Fijian heritage, history, culture and traditions and all expressed through creative Art and we are proud and privileged to be part of it.” Said CEO Thierry CHARRAS-GILLOT.
The word ‘Rarama’ is i’Taukei for ‘lit up with light’ as opposed to the darkness of the surroundings. Coincidentally the word is also composed of two names of gods – ‘ Ra’, the sun god of ancient Egypt and Lord ‘Rama’ a major deity in Hinduism. These words inspired the name of Rarama Art Festival, curated by Jane Ren-Seam. Ms Ren-Seam staged the amazing exhibition to encapsulate cultural art, film and theatre, art and sports, music, dance and vocal art.
The theme of the exhibition is ‘new day’ infused with celebration, happiness, vibrance – words that rominent ‘rarama’ and contrasts with the problems we’ve faced over the past few years.
Sponsorship to the festival provided great value to the brand through widespread reach in media such as Street Banners, Event signage, social media coverage and almost daily in The Fiji Times.
