BRED Bank donates 1st prize for World GIS Day

BRED Bank has sponsored the first prize award for the 2023 World GIS Day Competition – High School category organised by the Ministry of Lands & Mineral Resources.

GIS Day is a day set aside to celebrate and recognize the contributions of Geographic Information System technologies (GIS) and the GIS professionals worldwide. In Fiji it will be celebrated on November 30th at the Civic Center Lower Auditorium.

While handing over the award prize to the Ministry, BRED Bank CEO Thierry CHARRAS-GILLOT thanked the Ministry for the opportunity. He said protecting the environment and sustainability was a key part of BRED Bank’s strategy and he is proud to support it by sponsoring a Laptop which will be the first prize award for the students participating in the competition. Our support will help in creating awareness of this unique profession and career path.The laptop will be a valuable resource to the winning student in their studies for assignments and research.

The Ministry thanked BRED Bank for the support to the GIS Model competition. Ministry of Lands & Mineral Resources Principal Geospatial Officer – Vilimone KoirokoRaqona said, this year in the Secondary category we had more than 20 models and was an opportunity to understand and learn the perceptions and ideas of our children in areas of sustainability, renewable resources, conservation and future planning.
