BCIMR took part in the inauguration ceremony for Djibouti’s first wind farm in Ghoubet, where it is the only local bank involved in the project.
The Ghoubet Wind Farm represents a major energy project that combines the country’s energy independence with the production of low-carbon electricity to meet the major challenge of energy transition. The new wind farm comprises 17 turbines with a total capacity of 60 megawatts, it’s almost half of Djibouti’s maximum energy demand.
Mindful of the country’s energy challenges, BCIMR supports and accompanies the main players in this project, such as EDD, the only local bank financing the construction of 75 km of high-voltage lines. BCIMR is committed to all green energy projects for the sustainable growth of Djibouti.
As part of its corporate social responsibility, BCIMR is committed to being the first energy self-sufficient bank in Djibouti. Today, it is the only local bank to set objectives in terms of energy transition, a fundamental lever in its support for the country’s development. The Solar Roof Tiles project, a first in the country, is now up and running, reducing carbon-based electricity consumption by more than half. We hope to pave the way for all other institutions.
