BCIMR, a civic-minded bank

BCIMR is involved in a number of social and environmental initiatives in all regions of Djibouti, both in the north and south of the country.

“WE WANT TO SHOW THAT, AS WELL AS FULFILLING OUR MISSION AS A BANK, WE ARE A DJIBOUTIAN CORPORATE CITIZEN, COMMITTED AND ACTIVE IN THE FIELD OF CSR. IN FACT, OUR MOTTO, WHICH DEFINES OUR IDENTITY, IS “BCIMR, A SOCIALLY RESPONSIBLE BANK”

M. ABDALLAH IBRAHIM ABDALLAH, DEPUTY MANAGING DIRECTOR OF BCIMR.

Sports sponsorship

In the field of sport, the bank has been involved in both football, through its sponsorship of the FC Obock team for several years, and… petanque! By supporting the Ali-Sabieh regional council in organising the sixth edition of the “Caws-Dameer” petanque tournament.

Cultural initiatives

The BCIMR supported the RAR association (Associative network of Randa) for the book caravan, with a view to providing books and facilitating access to reading for the most disadvantaged.

In the field of research, conservation and enhancement of archaeological heritage, BCIMR is the patron of the team of Franco-Djiboutian scientists conducting studies in the Dikhil region. It is also active in the field of environmental protection and supports charities such as the Lion’s Club and Rotary every year.

Promoting local craft

Sponsored by BCIMR, the Women’s network of Tadjourah (AFT), headed by Mrs Hasna Hassan Ali, took part in the 13th Arts and Crafts Show organised by the city of Nogent-sur-Marne, near Paris, from 24 to 26 November 2023. The Women’s network of Tadjourah was thus able to showcase and present the work of its best craftswomen, who exhibited unique and authentic handicrafts to a wide audience at the 13th Nogent Arts and Crafts Show.

“THIS COMMITMENT GOES BEYOND MERE FINANCIAL SUPPORT, AND REFLECTS OUR DESIRE TO ACTIVELY SUPPORT SMALL BUSINESSES, THEREBY PROMOTING AND PRESERVING LOCAL CRAFT TRADITIONS. IT REFLECTS BCIMR’S COMMITMENT TO LOCAL COMMUNITIES, DEMONSTRATING ITS DESIRE TO PROMOTE THE ECONOMIC, CULTURAL AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT OF DJIBOUTI”.

Regis Barriac, CEO of BCIMR

Thanks to the sponsorship of BCIMR, the AFT showcased the exceptional skills of the women of Tadjourah, celebrating the richness of Djibouti’s craft culture.

In the presence of BCIMR’s Deputy Managing Director, Mr Abdallah Ibrahim Abdallah, and Djibouti’s ambassador to France, Ayeid Mousseid Yahya, the craftswomen of the Association des Femmes de Tadjourah warmly welcomed a number of VIPs to the exhibition stand, including the President of the Forum Francophone des Affaires, Mr Stève Gentili, the Secretary General of the Association des Femmes de Tadjourah and the President of the Association des Femmes de Tadjourah. Stève Gentili, the Secretary General of La Francophonie, Louise Mushikiwabo, and the Mayor of Nogent-sur-Marne, Jacques J.P. Martin.
